Carey Mulligan lends her voice to another film (after Shame, and Inside Llewyn Davis) as she sings folk song “Let No Man Steal Your Thyme” over the first trailer for Far From the Madding Crowd.

Based on the Thomas Hardy novel of the same name, Far From the Madding Crowd concentrates on the story of the beautiful and independent Bathsheba Everdene (Mulligan), who attracts three different suitors who make her romantic life increasingly more complicated.

The novel, released 140 years ago yesterday, was Hardy’s first literary success, and judging from the trailer the film looks to follow in its foot steps with Danish director Thomas Vinterberg (The Hunt) capturing the romance and idyllic nature of Hardy’s home county of Dorset.

Also starring Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Sheen and Tom Sturridge as the three suitors, and written by David Nicholls (One Day, Starter For 10Far From the Madding Crowd arrives in UK cinemas in Spring next year.
