Bittersweet First Image Philomena Judi Dench & Steve Coogan

Judi Dench and Steve Coogan appear together in the first image to be released from bittersweet comedy  Philomena . Directed by BAFTA winner Stephen Frears (The Queen).

Philomena is a tragic true tale set in 1950’s Ireland Dench plays the titular role of Philomena Lee who becomes pregnant giving birth to a boy in a Catholic home for unmarried mothers. 3 years later she is forced to give up her child and is forced to become a nun and is forced to sign a declaration not to search for her Son.Years later no living in UK with help from local news reporter Martin Sixsmith (Steve Coogan) to hunt her son down.

Philomena will be released in UK&Ireland 1st November 2013.
