Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement includes X-Men and Fantastic Four stars
The Avengers: Doomsday ensemble is taking shape. The Russo brothers‘ return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to be a gargantuan spectacle and now has a cast to match. We already know about Robert Downey Jr.‘s role as Doctor Doom. Now, his cohorts have been revealed via a series of videos panning along chairs with names on them.
The X-Men officially the MCU
Key X-Men cast include Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, Kelsey Grammer and James Marsden. That means the OG iterations of Charles Xavier, Magneto, Nightcrawler, Mystique, Hank McCoy and Cyclops will be back on our screens.
The instalment of the X-Men in the MCU has been a long time coming. Sam Raimi‘s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness showcased a variation of Stewart’s Xavier but this is set to be the real deal.
The Fantastic Four will play a role
The Fantastic Four will also be playing a role. Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are all set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday as Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic, Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/The Human Torch and Ben Grimm/The Thing. This is even before their debut MCU movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps has hit cinema screens (it does so in July 2025).
Gambit and other fan-favourites will appear
Chris Hemsworth is back as Thor alongside Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson/Captain America, Sebastian Stan‘s Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Letitia Wright‘s Shuri. They will be ing Simu Liu‘s Shang-Chi, Wyatt Russell‘s John Walker, Tenoch Huerta Mejia‘s Namor, Florence Pugh‘s Yelena Belova and David Harbour‘s Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian.
It doesn’t stop there. Tom Hiddleston is back as Loki, as is Danny Ramirez‘ Joaquin Torres, Winston Duke‘s M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen‘s Ghost and Channing Tatum‘s Gambit. Lewis Pullman‘s Robert Reynolds is a new face who is set to make his debut in this year’s Thunderbolts*.
There’s clearly a lot that’s worth celebrating. Besides the X-Men and Fantastic Four reveals, the presence of Gambit is sure to delight Marvel obsessives who have been waiting years for the character’s solo movie to get off the ground. The character recently appeared in the MCU blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine.
That said, a lot of important faces haven’t been confirmed yet. Stay tuned for more news. Avengers: Doomsday is released on 1st May, 2026.
