Japanese Action thrillers like no other, Joe Dante, classic horrors getting the 4K upgrade. It must be ARROW, all coming in September and it will be ‘ground breaking’!

Next month ARROW will premiere Katsuhito Ishii’s Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip Girl, a fast moving and action packed odyssey into a comically violent world. It stars Tadanobu Asano (Ichi the Killer, Thor), this is visually impressive, massively entertaining, and quite unlike anything you’ve seen before.

Also showing in September, chilling mystery Backtrack, that The Guardian describes as a “nifty little scary movie”, starring Adrien Brody (Oscar winner for The Pianist) as a psychotherapist plagued by nightmares and sinister visions, who returns to his childhood home to put things to rest. This is a thoughtful and affecting ghost story.

And this September, Joe Dante Selects as the legendary genre director responsible for beloved classics The Howling, Gremlins and Piranha, chooses from the ARROW catalogue, including eclectic must-sees The Mighty Peking Man, Horror Express and Vampire Circus.

Next month also sees the hugely influential horror films Ringu and Blood and Black Lace, both available to watch in stunning 4K at www.ARROW-Player.com. In 1998’s Ringu, director Hideo Nakata (Dark Water) unleashed a chilling tale of technological terror on unsuspecting audiences, which redefined the horror genre, launched the J-horror boom in the West and introducing a generation of moviegoers to a creepy, dark-haired girl called Sadako. Mario Bava’s iconic Blood and Black Lace is one of the most influential films ever made – an Italian classic that would spearhead the giallo genre, provide a prototype for the slasher movie, and have a huge effect on filmmakers as diverse as Dario Argento and Martin Scorsese.

Seasons in September include Dan Martin Selects where the special effects artist behind Infinity Pool, Possessor, The Banshees of Inisherin, Censor and In the Earth shines the spotlight on some of his ARROW favourites, including The Five Venoms, Giants and Toys, and Hotel Poseidon; Eat the Rich, featuring films where the class war has a body count, including Society, Audition, and Double Face;

Solid Metal Nightmares: The Films of Shinya Tsukamoto, a collection of the director’s breathtaking films, all nightmarish portrayals of obsession and madness, including Tokyo Fist, Tetsuo and Tetsuo II: Body Hammer; Dark and Sharp: The Jim Cummings Collection, where you can get to know the cutting and acerbic work of the one-of-a-kind indie cult director, with a selection of his of biting and unmissable short films, as well as his quirky and provocative features including The Beta Test; and Trouble in Time, a spin through a season of films full of time travel adventures in the past and future, including Whatever This Is, The Navigator, and Dead or Alive: Final.

ALSO SHOWING: Cult comedy chaos in Party 7, atmospheric Swedish crime thriller Tommy, a drug deal gone wrong in Doug Liman’s Go, documentaries on the Pink Panther films and Kris Kristofferson, and much more…
