Allan Dale A late edition to Fincher’s Girl With A Dragon Tattoo?

How ironic that whilst I sit watching The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo that the next story is to do with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo! Well its David Fincher’s the remake version! With the remake due to arrive on boxing day December 26th. David Fincher has finished the initial filming and is currently in the process of working on the reshoots for the next few weeks and it seems we have a late edition to the cast according to  Variety who are reporting Australian actor Alan Dale!

Dale who is known to many British/Irish fans as Jim Robinson from long running Aussie soap Neighbours but everyone else he has been seen in Lost, OC, Ugly Betty to name a few, the character its believed he will play is a “career detective on the verge of retirement.” I haven’t read the books but I’ve seen the films and as I have the original movie on as I write this  it could be a very small part at the start of Mikael Blomkvist’s research into the missing woman. This part could be a brand new character however as the main filming has finished it suggests Dale is possibly into to replace someone Fincher hasn’t performed well. Actors coming into a movie at the last minute, Goran Visnjic also came into the same movie 2 months into filming, In The Hangover 2 Nick Cassavetes came into reshoots to replace Liam Neeson who couldn’t  find time due to other commitments so there is that possibility this is the same case and the reason for Alan Dale’s last minute inclusion, whatever the reason we can agree they have a worthy inclusion/replacement.
