Alien: Romulus Director’s Hopes For Sequel To Film This Year

BAFTA Winning David Jonsson in ALien Romulus walks with caution

Alien: Romulus director Fede Alvarez has said he aims to film the sequel this year.

Following the first instalment which received critical acclaim and a gross of over over $350 million worldwide, Alvarez told Collider this week that audiences won’t have to wait too long for another.

When Alvarez was asked when the Romulus sequel would shoot, he said: “It’s a good question. I hope I can shoot it this year.

Last month, he said that he and his co-writer Rodo Sayagues were working on a script which would continue to follow Rain and Andy, played by David Jonsson respectively.

He explained that he was keen to take the characters to “a place in the Alien franchise that we’ve never been before and to discover things that you’ve never seen before.”

Alvarez added: “For a sequel now, I think there’s a vast horizon in front of us for where we can go because Alien is so many things. Alien is Alien, it’s Prometheus, and everything in between. It’s such a big universe. I think now I would love to go, and the plan is to go into truly uncharted waters for the franchise.

Alien: Romulus is currently available on Disney+.
